Technics SL-PJ25 CD player
SOAD7OA laser assembly.

Issue: CD player not reading discs. Disc spins a long time, laser moves but no read.
Solution: Replace 6.3V 100uF capacitors on the Servo PCB at locations C145 and C127. One is located next to LM2940 regulator, and the other is next to the Servo IC.

Technics SL-PG100 CD player

Issue: CD player not reading discs. Disc spins briefly, laser moves but no read.
Solution: Replace 50V 1uF capacitors on the Servo PCB at locations C714 and C748.

Once the 50V 1uF capacitors have been removed, if they are faulty you will see a powdery substance on the motherboard. Use Isopropyl alcohol or Methylated spirits to remove this before fitting the new capacitor.

Pioneer PL-960 Turntable record player
Direct Drive record player

Issue: Record player turntable spins too fast.
Solution: Below the base of the tone arm where it connects to the body, is a larger pad rest. This can move up and down and often gets stuck. Enabling this pad to move up and down freely will enable the turntable to spin at the correct speed. Lubricate with silicon spray and push the pad down and up until it moves easier. Check the player speed again and adjust the level of the pad until it spins at the correct speed.
